What does Grant love most about nature?

In Grant’s own words: “I like the circle of life and seeing all the animals that live together. I like listening to the birds and finding out what kind they are. I like learning about where different animals live and how they survive. There are special places on earth like the Everglades that are full of wildlife and nature. We should protect nature because it is our future and can’t be replaced.”

What is Grant's favorite animal—and why?

“Puffins. Puffins can do many extraordinary and interesting things. They are good parents and work as a team to raise their chicks and can carry 20 fish at a time. They can fly and swim. When they are under water they look like they are flying. Puffins help me appreciate nature and how hard they have to work to survive. Puffins help scientists study the ocean and their behaviors help us learn if there’s a problem with the environment. They adapt to very cold climates. They are also adorable.”

What is Grant's favorite outdoor activity?

“I like catching lizards and frogs to study them, and then releasing them unless they are invasive. I also like hiking, fishing, and climbing trees. My favorite things to do are snorkeling and fossil hunting. When I find fossils it helps me understand about animals that lived a long time ago. I want to be a paleontologist. I like snorkeling to see the marine life. It’s like flying over coral and the animals that live there.”
