What does Finnegan love most about nature?

Adventures. He asks everyday ”Is today an adventure day?” He spends most of his time outside on our farm or in the woods collecting leaves, bugs or rocks and then finds them “nice homes” in the moss or under trees. Recently he has begun to recognize the plants we can forage for food, and brings them home for lunch! He thinks nature is magical & loves all things living, plants and animals alike. For instance he likes hugging our fruit trees or using his mittens to warm them up in the winter.

What is Finnegan's favorite animal—and why?

All reptiles and bugs. Yesterday he found an inch worm and carried it around in an acorn top until it was dinnertime then he returned his “friend” to the edge of the woods. We think his fascination is in how different they are, he spends a lot of time examining them. “Some have different colors&some fly ooor crawl. Earth worms have no legs!” I once found his pocket filled with slugs…

What is Finnegan's favorite outdoor activity?

He says”being in the grass”. He does like to hike and swim but what comes to mind most, truly is him walking around in the grass at the border of field and woods talking to everything he sees, “hello birdie, hello big tree! And sunshine!” Winters are long here and he is really loving this spring, now that he is 4 he has many more words to describe his pleasure @ being in nature.
