Evangeline loves to be outside, at her grandparents’ farm, or home in the Wenatchee N. Forest near Lake Kachess; hiking, fishing or playing!
Thank you for generously supporting Evangeline in this year’s competition. Your participation helps empower the National Wildlife Federation in their mission to protect wildlife, restore habitats, and inspire the next generation of conservationists.
Evangeline loves being surrounded by nature. On hikes and camping trips she is always looking for plants and animals she recognizes, especially birds. She scours the snow for footprints to identify. In Nature she can enjoy her hobbies, like collecting rocks, fishing from her canoe, archery, and planting her flower and vegetable gardens.
Evangeline loves birds, especially Steller Jays, which she can identify at her home and near her school. Their vibrant blue stands out against the forests’ greens and in town against the gray. She appreciates that they eat bugs that try to eat her and her plants.
Going to the lake is something Evangeline asks to do all year. In springtime as soon as the snow is gone she wants to be on the water fishing from her canoe or a dock. In the summer she swims and plays by the shore to stay cool. In the fall when the lake is low she can look for rocks that otherwise would be underwater. In the winter the lake bed fills with snow and she can ski and practice snowmobiling.
