What does Ember love most about nature?

Ember says “I love the animals. I love insects, reptiles, and amphibians. I especially love snakes, lizards, geckos, newts, and salamanders.” Ember’s love for the creepiest and crawliest animals has been intrinsic to who she is. We often find her in the yard holding and observing insects and she can do this for hours on end. She also has such an appreciation for natural materials. I’m forever finding feathers, seed pods, pebbles, and leaves in her pockets and in little piles in the house.

What is Ember's favorite animal—and why?

Ember says “a snake because they are cool since they have no legs and use their tongue to smell. They used to have legs a long time ago but they evolved and I think that’s so cool!” (I, her mom, had no idea snakes evolved from lizard like creatures until asking her this question! She’s forever teaching all of us animal facts and I love that about her. In fact, her preschool teachers use her as an example for show and tell because she’s so passionate about sharing what she knows and loves!)

What is Ember's favorite outdoor activity?

Ember says “My favorite outdoor activity is playing with my color changing geckos and doing experiments with water. I also love helping Dad take care of our trees.” Ember has been at home in and soothed by the outdoors since she was a newborn. She had some challenges as a baby that involved a lot of discomfort and outside was the one place that calmed her. The natural world loved her and now she loves it back!
