What does Ember love most about nature?

Ember loves the changing seasons! In spring, she watches flowers bloom and picks strawberries at the local farm. Summer means swimming at the local lake and hiking nearby trails. In Fall, she jumps in leaf piles and admires the trees’ changing colors. Winter brings snowing adventures- sledding, building snowmen, and searching for animal tracks. Each season feels like a new adventure for Ember and she can’t wait to see what nature does next!

What is Ember's favorite animal—and why?

Ember’s favorite animal is the black bear because she thinks they are strong and smart, yet cuddly. She loves how bears hibernate in winter, saying it’s like their long nap to recharge. Ember is also fascinated by how they care for their cubs and teach them everything they know. She admires their ability to be fierce when needed but gentle with their family. To her, bears are both tough and tender. Ember also loves to sleep with her bear stuffy Beatrice every night, which makes her feel safe.

What is Ember's favorite outdoor activity?

Ember’s absolute favorite outdoor activity is searching for roly-polies. She loves “bug safaris,” transforming into a pint-sized scientist armed with a magnifying glass, her “bug hotel” and a very serious sense of purpose. She lifts up rocks, flowerpots, and even the edge of welcome mats just to see if any of her “little friends” are hiding underneath. She also loves sharing this joy too- Ember stealthily brought live roly-polies to school in her backpack to share with friends, unbeknownst to us
