Elijah spends most of his time outdoors. He is a champion of nature at 6 years old and would make a great Jr Ranger!
Thank you for generously supporting Elijah in this year’s competition. Your participation helps empower the National Wildlife Federation in their mission to protect wildlife, restore habitats, and inspire the next generation of conservationists.
Eliajh enjoys wildlife photography and when he learned that plants communicate and are more sentient than we previously suspected, Elijah became enamored with the idea of plants talking. Mother plants sharing nutrients with their babies, fungi helping connect entire forest and so on. He also cares for our native pitcher plants and Venus fly traps found only in the ecosystem here
3 years ago we took Elijah into a pet store to look at animals. While there we saw several injured Leopard Geckos. We talked the employees into giving us a deal on the hurt ones. Elijah helped nurse two Geckos back to health. One recently passed, but the other, Anna, is not only surviving, but thriving. She is his favorite animal. She can be found sleeping under his chin on his chest.
Swimming. Elijah swims 4 to 5 times a week at our local State Park. This park is where he earned his South Carolina Jr Ranger award for completing a State wide program and for his conservation efforts at the park. The rest of the year includes gardening with his papa, fishing, and this year has started learning about beekeeping and is a registered SCBA member in preparation of starting a hive next spring. He also enjoys cleaning the Adopt-A-Highway he has in his name. A 4 mile stretch.
