Receive Text UpdatesI live in the country, I love many things but first I love the smell. I love how the trees smell. I also love the sounds. The water trickling in the creek, the birds (we finally attracted barn swallows for the last few years) and the frogs down by the pond. We also have wood ducks that sing and splash in the pond when the suns going down. I also love all of the colors especially this time of year. Mostly I love how it all is connected, how it makes me feel inside and how it works together.
My favorite animal is skunks. They get a pretty bad rep for being kind of smelly, but to me they’re pretty important to our environment. I think most people look at them in disgust, but I think they’re one of natures heroes. For one they eat wasps (and other bugs) which is a win in my book! They also help keep the forest healthy since they’re awesome foragers, and of course have a pretty cool defense tool that works good even against us! I appreciate the job they do for our ecosystem.
I love lots of outdoor things, riding my bike around the property with my little brother, using my nature guides to see if we can match plants, tracks, and SCAT! The stars where I live are amazing to watch at night. I like finding new things and mushroom hunting with my aunt! Exploring new things is always the best, we went to Puerto Rico and I got to swim at night with the dinoflagellates in the bioluminescent bay which was AMAZING! Finding new critters wherever I’m at is so much fun!
