I am learning more about native plants to help provide habitat for wildlife. I love all animals, even the creepy crawlies! I love learning about nature firsthand, through books and watching documentaries.
It’s hard to choose. I love macaws, ducks, chickens and the corvid family, but my favorite right now is probably the American Crow. I respect crows because they are super smart. A study showed that a crow remembers faces for years. Crows can be taught words and can speak. They like to play and have been observed swinging on vines.
My favorite thing to do is to go hiking and birdwatching. I enjoy listening for the pileated woodpeckers and other birds. I use Merlin to identify bird sounds and learn them. It's so cool to spot new birds to add to my life list. I love observing animals in their habitats. The most exciting bird I saw while hiking was a barred owl. I was so excited to see it and it was very unexpected.
