Cain is 5, brave and curious. He’d live outside if we let him! Nature is his happy place—born to explore, play, and protect our world.
Thank you for generously supporting Cain in this year’s competition. Your participation helps empower the National Wildlife Federation in their mission to protect wildlife, restore habitats, and inspire the next generation of conservationists.
What is Jr. Ranger?
Learn moreCain lives in the Appalachian mountains of Eastern Kentucky, where nature is his happy place. He lights up finding critters, chasing bugs, and collecting rocks. Trips to Natural Bridge are his favorite—he climbs, explores, and feels free. Outside is where he’s calm, curious, and most himself. There’s just something about the trees and trails that brings him peace.
Cain loves all animals—frogs, snails, worms, even snakes! He’s curious and gentle with every little creature he finds. But his favorite animal is his beagle, Wayne. Cain loves to hug Wayne around his neck and they’re best friends. Wayne is always by his side on adventures, making Cain feel happy and safe. Their bond is special, full of love and lots of tail wags!
Cain’s favorite outdoor activity is playing in the mud and wading in the creek. He loves getting messy, feeling the cool water on his feet, and exploring the little creatures that live there. Being outside lets him be curious, have fun, and enjoy every moment of nature’s playground.
