Learn moreBeing in nature makes her feel like she is a part of something bigger than herself. Hiking through trails that so many people have hiked before her. She can imagine the artists who drew the cave paintings, the hard journey of those who traveled the land before it was developed, the explorers who fought for years to establish each national park. Seeing what they thought was so special that they had to protect it so that she could one day fall in love with it, too.
Dolphins! Avery loves dolphins because they are super playful and athletic. She loves that female dolphins create their own little “girl power” group to raise their calves. Her favorite piece of trivia: Dolphins sleep only one side of their brain at a time so they can maintain proper breathing patterns and watch out for predators.
Scuba Diving! Avery loves diving in new locations to experience the different ecosystems! Each one is unique and feels like coming upon a magical new world! She loves the challenge of navigating her equipment while lovingly documenting, studying, and protecting the creatures she encounters. Diving gives her first hand knowledge of many different species in a way that no other activity can!
