Ashton’s love for nature runs deep. He devours wilderness books and explores the outdoors like a true ranger in training.
Thank you for generously supporting Ashton in this year’s competition. Your participation helps empower the National Wildlife Federation in their mission to protect wildlife, restore habitats, and inspire the next generation of conservationists.
Ashton says the thing he loves most about nature is the calmness he feels when he’s among the trees. It’s like nature helps his whole body relax—his favorite kind of quiet. There’s something about the rustling leaves and open sky that gives him a deep sense of peace.
A fox. Ashton admires their sharp instincts and cleverness. He’s fascinated by how they can find food so efficiently and blend into their surroundings. He says they’re “smart survivors”—and he hopes to be just as resourceful in the wild.
Fishing—hands down. He’s been casting his own line since before his third birthday. Give him a rod, a quiet lake, and a little patience, and he’s completely in his element. For Ashton, fishing isn’t just a hobby—it’s a chance to slow down, observe, and connect with the world around him.
