Better yet, it is all interconnected - the rocks, the oceans, the plants, the animals, the skies, and beyond. Like a true scientist, he is always asking important questions about the world around him and enjoys hearing about how humans are working to solve problems, balance ecosystems, and save animals.
Abraham loves birds of all kind, especially the unique or extinct kind (like the Titanis!). While he chooses a different favorite animal every year; the platypus and kiwi bird ranked top for a long time. Presently, his favorite animal is the Red Tailed Hawk because it is a top predator and is very helpful with pest control. Abraham's favorite feature of the Red Tailed Hawk is its beautiful red tail feathers and its powerful shriek of a battle cry while it soars.
Abraham's favorite activity is bird watching. At three years old we read the North American Field Guide nightly, thanks to his enthusiasm. We are lucky to be outdoors often in the diverse ecosystems of San Diego, challenging him to find a huge variety of species in our own backyard - from the ocean, estuaries, canyons, and mountains. His favorite sighting included walking right behind a Great Blue Heron as big as him!
