Learn MoreNature fills Locke with wonder. When he’s outside, he’s amazed by how every creature and habitat fits together. Each animal is unique and special in its own way. Even animals people fear or misunderstand have an important role. I believe there’s no such thing as a bad animal; each one has a purpose and are just living the way God designed them to.
Red-eyed tree frogs are Locke’s favorite animals because they have amazing adaptations. They can hide their bright red eyes with green webbing so predators don’t notice them and they blend in with the leaves. Their backs can even change color! Locke also thinks it’s really cool that they sleep gripping trees and come out at night. It’s fascinating how they lay eggs on leaves and the tadpoles drop into the water when they hatch.
It’s hard for Locke to pick just one! He loves hiking, fishing, bird watching, and observing animals. Tide pools are a favorite of his too. Locke likes listening to the sounds of nature at night and spotting shooting stars. He also enjoys planting things and helping them grow. He wants to keep exploring and learning about the natural world so he can help protect it and encourage others to be good stewards too.
